Compliance is key
"A person shall not act, advertise, solicit, or hold himself out as a public adjuster or to be in the business of adjusting insurance claims in this state nor attempt to obtain a contract for public adjusting services, unless the person is licensed as a public adjuster"
Public Adjuster Statue, 215 ILCS5/Art. XLV
What is a Public Adjuster?
A public adjuster is a licensed professional who assists policyholders in preparing, filing, and negotiating insurance claims. Public adjusters work on behalf of the policyholder, not the insurance company, to help ensure the policyholder receives the maximum settlement they are entitled to under their insurance policy.
Public Adjuster Benefits.
Being both a public adjuster and a roofing contractor in Illinois offers a unique advantage. As a public adjuster, you can assess and maximize insurance claims. Meanwhile, as a roofing contractor, you can directly handle the repairs or replacements needed. This dual role provides a seamless experience, increased trust and revenue.
Exam Requirements.
The person must be 18 years of age or older. Pearson Vue administers the Public Adjuster exam all year. You may select the date, time and location most convenient to your schedule. The 100 question exam is about $100 and you need a 70% to pass.
You do not need a prep course to attempt this exam, although it is recommended.Â
License Requirements.
To apply for a Public Adjuster license, you must follow these simple steps: Pass the exam, file the $250 application, submit a $50,000 Surety Bond, verification of fingerprints, and a proposed PA contract for approval. We will assist you at every step of the way.
The IRI team has adjusted tens of millions of dollars in residential and commercial claims. We will help you pass your test, comply with Illinois law, and give you the skills to be a better PA.
